Class Expectations
Behavior
I have 3 basic rules.
Be Respectful
Be Responsible
Be Safe
Everything you do fits into one of these.
Attendance
It is highly recommended that students attend class daily. Many of the activities we do can not be made up and the next day's work builds on the previous day's activity. If a student knows ahead of time they will be gone, please see me about work and alternative assignments. If they are gone for even one day they should call and ask for missing work, check the web site, and call a class mate from that hour to see what was missed. Make up work is the responsibility of the student, I will provide it if asked and I follow the standard allowance of time in the student handbook.
Tardy
If a student is tardy to class that means they were not in their seat when the bell rang.
Assignment Notebooks
I suggest you keep an assignment notebook either one you buy or electronically.
Assignment information is posted in the classroom each week.
One of the key factors of success is being organized and keeping track of deadlines.
Late work
Any work not turned in when due is considered late.
Students have the choice of turning work in as is or taking a late grade.
If they chose to take a late grade, the work is due no later than 8:05 AM of the next school day. The work will be graded and given a grade of 75% of points earned.
I do not require that the late work be signed by a parent.
Backpacks-Book bags-Purses
I require students to leave these in their lockers. I have 2 reasons for this.
#1-Safety. People are on the move in the classroom and they create a hazard to step over and around. They can create a distraction when students carry "things other than school supplies" in them. It eliminates the temptation to be "digging" through it if it is not in the classroom.
#2-Safety. Students tend to put all their books in to the backpack and carrying this around on their shoulder or back all day can lead to physical problems later in life.
